  Guest Speaker 

   Dr. Bryan Rasmussen, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Texas A&M University

   Topic

   Beyond Steady State: Dynamics and Control of HVAC Systems

 

In the final ASHRAE Student Chapter meeting if the fall semester, Dr. Bryan Rasmussen presented a broad introduction of controls in HVAC applications with descriptions of the available and future control methodologies being investigated. A brief introduction to methodologies such as PID, MIMS, iterative, and neural network was given with greater detail included for some. Dr. Rasmussen concluded with an overview of current projects underway at his lab.

Purpose and Goals
   The advancement of heating, refrigerating, and air-conditioning engineering and
     related sciences.
   The continuing education of the members and other interested persons through
     lectures, demonstrations, and publications.
   The rendering of career guidance to students of the sciences.
 
Membership

     Application is open at any time during the semester and is reviewed by
     the Branch Faculty Advisor. National dues are $16.00. Branch dues are $12.00

 
The Texas A&M Branch
    The student branch at Texas A&M offers monthly speakers and plant trips.
    Pizzas and soda are included at every meeting. Meetings are held on the first
    Thursday of every month in the Fall and Spring Semesters.
